Marc Teare (Hive Mind Records) + Stephen Kin;Aesthetic Set @Munchies Craft, for King Lagoon's LP Celebration no.2

The first in a series of posts, a much-needed catch up and tonic.

Uploading over on Mixcloud, some wonderful recordings from label events over the last few years, most recently for the King Lagoon launch events and beyond… It was brilliant to have Marc Teare (Hive Mind) selecting an exciting, discerning stack of Afro-Latin rhythms and hidden international records as part of the second King Lagoon' The Golden Lagoon LP celebration down at Munchies' Craft in Brighton, back when we could party, in late 2019.

On the night we were thoroughly treated to an array of carefully collected wax from Marc, with a vibrant Afro-Latin thread, opening the set with 45mins or so of hot solo selecting, before Stephen Kin;Aesthetic joined for back-to-back spins and plenty of ooooh, what’s-that-record moments, across the night…

Marc runs one of the most interesting and tantilising labels to be found anywhere, based right here in Brighton, UK, Hive Mind Records has quickly rooted itself as a champion of fundamental international sounds, releasing a shining axis of essential rhythms; adventures through genuine, warm, authentic and overlooked sounds, an imprint that oozes passion and joy with an infectious spirit.

In three short years, Marc & Hive Mind have released and represented a quite astonishing, continent-spanning, trove of international intrigue and poly-rhythmic, trance-inducing magic, across 10 LP releases - quickly approaching cult status as a label, distributed by the legendary Honest Jons. If you want the wax pressings, you betta be quick…
